Eda Kumquat is one of Newfoundland and Labrador’s premier event hosts and entertainers. A member of the all trans/non-binary drag collective, The Phlegm Fatales, Eda has co-created outrageous theatre and cabaret-style shows like Hello Flesh (2022) and Return to Planet Phlegm (2023). They have also acted for TaDa! Events in musicals La Cage aux Folles (2020) and The Rocky Horror Show (2023) to rave reviews as Jacob and Dr. Frank-N-Furter, respectively.

Eda’s dynamic performance style, undeniable charm, and quick wit have uplifted audiences across Newfoundland and Labrador for 6 years. In a drag competition judged by Mary Walsh, Lady Bunny, and Irma Gerd, Eda won the title of Queen of the Night in 2018 and was voted Best Entertainer in St. John’s in 2023. This 5-star talent can perform your favourite pop songs, retro classics, and alternative anthems all the while delivering East Coast comedy with a modern twist.

Improvisation plays a huge part in how Eda conducts themselves on a stage. They react to the goings-on in a room and thoroughly enjoy chatting with audience members and learning their names. “The person at the front is just as important as the person at the back, so I try to make everyone feel seen and special.”

Eda Kumquat has produced, hosted, and performed extensively with organizations such as Resource Centre for the Arts, Quadrangle, AIDS Committee of Newfoundland and Labrador, Lawnya Vawnya, and Eastern Edge Gallery. In 2022 and 2023, Eda hosted and performed to sold-out audiences for the first-ever drag shows in Deer Lake, NL, and Pasadena, NL.
