About Liezel Hues

Based in St John’s

Liezel Hues is a clown around town, queerdo, and creative who excels at and revels in creating unique performances that audiences of all textures can thoroughly enjoy.

A silly staple of the St. John's drag scene, Liezel slays as a soloist, in groups, and behind the scenes as a comedy writer and choreographer. Liezel has been a core part of the Phlegm Fatales-- St. John's all non-binary alternative drag collective-- since its inception in 2018. The journey into drag began when Liezel sneakily infiltrated a dive bar the size of a walk-in closet back in 2018, witnessing the most amazing drag performers using taped-together crates as a stage. This encounter led to the birth of the Phlegm Fatales, with whom Liezel developed a close bond. Prior to joining the collective, Liezel had a performance background in dance and improv, having briefly showcased their talents in Toronto under Allysin Chaynes in 2018.

Since then, Liezel has not only been a standout performer in terms of looks but has also contributed significantly behind the scenes. Inspired by muppets, clowns, colour, shapes, smells, and ideas, Liezel brings a unique blend of humour, glamour, and zany characters to every stage they grace. Despite not having a competitive history, Liezel is a treat of all trades and a master of fun, captivating audiences with their infectious energy and creativity.
